Davisville Management Company welcomes all new students to Davis and welcomes back our returning students. The UC Davis Academic Year starts on September 21, 2026 and not only do you need to get ready for school, you also need to take some time to search and explore the many things there are to do in and around the UC Davis campus. There are plenty of things to keep you busy until instruction begins on September 23, 2026.

Campus Living

If you are a Freshman at UC Davis, it is highly likely that you will be living on campus. 90% of first-year students choose to live on campus.

On-campus living is perfect for your first year at college. It gives you a low-friction opportunity to become acclimated to college life and to learn about the surrounding community.

UC Davis offers choices for living on-campus. Your choices will depend on whether you are a new undergraduate student, transfer and continuing undergraduate student, if you have a family, or if you are a single graduate student.

  • Residence Halls
  • University Apartments

However, after your first year at college, or closer to 3-4 months, you may find the dorm life may not be what you are looking for. You will need to start thinking about “next steps” in your college studies and about finding someplace to live that is off campus. There are number of advantages to living off-campus.

Make sure you, your family, and potential roommates have a good conversation about where the best place to live in Davis would be. These tips will help you understand more about apartment living off campus.

UC Davis Moove-In Day (Move-in Day)

Move-in days at UC Davis are as follows:

  • September 4 & 11, 2026 - The Green
  • September 15-17, 2026 - Residence Halls

Make sure you schedule your move in appointment through the myHousing portal as instructed in the email you should receive.

Take a look at the UC Davis Residence Hall FAQ (2025 version). This contains all sorts of information that will help guide you through the student dorm and apartment move in process.

You can also take a look at the UC Davis Residence Hall General Information page.

Aggie Orientation Schedule

There are a lot of dates and deadlines to remember for the beginning of the UC Davis 2025-2026 school year. The best place to start so you don’t miss any of the important dates or deadlines is to visit the UC Davis Aggie Orientation page.

UC Davis provides three steps to a successful orientation and to be prepared for your first quarter at UC Davis.

UC Davis Student Affairs has a calendar of special events in which students and families may be interested. There are a lot of interesting things to do. Have a look at…

Dive Into Downtown

Exploring the community is a big part of the Fall Welcome activities. This year, downtown businesses are welcoming UC Davis students to come downtown and explore what Downtown Davis has to offer.

Downtown Davis is immediately next to the eastern edge of the UC Davis campus. A quick walk across campus gets you right to a number of restaurants to enjoy and business services you need.

From September 16, 2026 to September 18, 2026, UC Davis students will be given a guided walking tour of the downtown. What makes this tour great is that there are a “boat load” of special offers and discounts which students can enjoy while learning about Downtown Davis.
