Press Release: Aggie Square To-Go Lunch
Updated: May 4, 2020
For many years, Aggie Square Apartments has held events to promote socialization among its residents and for neighbors to get to know one another. Events like chili feeds and holiday dinner parties in the clubhouse are hosted during the fall/wintertime. More commonly during the spring/summertime when the weather starts to get warmer, barbeques by the pool serving hot dogs and hamburgers is a tenant favorite event held at Aggie Square Apartments.

Over 200 complimentary lunches are waiting for hungry UC Davis students who are busy with online learning while sheltering in place.
However, this year, things are a little different due to the coronavirus where local leaders have instructed to have residents shelter-in at their homes, wear face masks and to stay 6 feet apart from each other while in public, close down public pools, etc.
Aggie Square Apartments realizes that these are challenging times for their residents, and Management is doing their best during this uncertain season. Due to the circumstances around the coronavirus, Aggie Square Apartments wanted to do something to show that they care about their residents but keeping in mind of their resident’s health and safety as the number one priority.

Lunch To Go went right out the window at Aggie Square Apartments. Literally. Students stopped by the office, grabbed a lunch, and headed back to their apartments for distance learning at UC Davis
That is when the Aggie Square To-Go Lunch was created. The event was held on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020 from 11:30AM – 1:00PM. It was beautiful day with great weather – perfect for a picnic! But, of course, a socially distant picnic where tenants picked up their food outside of the Leasing Office and brought it back to their apartments.
On the ground were bright pink taped markers for residents to stand on while waiting in line, 6 feet apart from each other leading up to where the Aggie Square Apartments Management staff distantly handed out lunch to residents from the Leasing Office window. In addition, there was a sanitation station for residents to use hand sanitizer and individually packed sanitation wipes to take home with residents and their roommates. Employees were wearing face masks and gloves to do their part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Everyone gets in on the fun. Davisville Management Company prepares lunches to go at Aggie Square Apartments. UC Davis students love these special events.
Lunch was served in brown paper bags sealed with the Aggie Square Apartments logo sticker. Inside the brown paper lunch bags served a turkey and cheese sandwich on croissant bread. Also included was an assortment variation of either chips, cookies, fruit, or granola bar. For beverages, water, Coca-Cola, and Sprite were offered to each of the residents as they picked up their lunches.
An Aggie Square Apartments resident mentioned to the Management Staff by saying, “Thank you for taking the time to set this up for all the residents, the lunches were great, and it was much appreciated. You guys are awesome! Aggie Square Apartments always takes care of their residents, which is one of the reasons I love living here!”

It is safe to say that the Aggie Square Apartments Socially Distant Lunch On-the-Go was a success and the tenants enjoyed the lunch hosted by the management staff.
Aggie Square Apartments Manager, Lauren McNece said, “we missed hosting a more communal event where everyone is able to socialize together, I’m glad we thought of this event to show our residents that we care about them! I definitely want to plan another socially distant event soon!”

The Aggie Square Apartments’ office window made the perfect spot for the Lunch To Go. Students walked up to the window, grabbed their lunch and headed back to their off-campus apartment.
